Exclude item from search

I have the full text search working on SQL 2005, and works great!

However, I have a folder that I am using to store images (jpg, gif, etc...) for some of my content pages. The image files themselves are returned as search results if their name matches the criteria. Is there some way to exclude these image files (and other "resource files") from the results? I really just want my content pages to come back.

I have tried this approach but the folders are not being excluded from the search.

Is there any more wisdom on this than the documentation.

For example, i want to exclude the Images folder.

Is the syntax this:

/images

or this

/images/%

Neither seems to work so do I need to flush some kind of cache first do I have to be more specific?

Could you please try to set appropriate site within 'Site Manager -> Settings -> Dropdown -> Web Site'. It's possible that you are inheriting from global settings in your site. I have tried it in the 4.0 version and it is working fine (http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/4_0/devguide/search_engine_overview.htm).

I have navigated to Site Manager -> Settings -> selected my site in the drop down list -> Web site -> Exclude documents from search and in this field was this value: /Special-Pages/%;/News/%

So, when I have searched for some words, nothing from the News section was displayed (I have used words which were only in the news section). I have removed the value from the field, saved it and searched again and the change was applied immediately.
Could you please try to restart the application in Site Manager -> Administration -> System and clear the browser cache?

i am using Kentico 4.1.

i have selected my desired site (i only have 1, but i am not using the "global" option). i have gone to Settings>Web site>"Exclude documents from SQL search" and entered 1 path like this: /Web-Resources/refresh/% and documents in this directory (refresh) keep appearing in my search results. i have cleared my browser cache and re-initialized the browser application. still the results include pages i am trying to exclude.

any ideas?

Isn't it possible that you are using Smart search and not SQL search? You need to exclude the items from the index.
