Moving existing site to Kentico
I am currently evaluating Kentico for the purpose of moving some of my web applikations to it. In regards to this process some questions have come up.
As far as I can see, I should be able to use my existing master and theme, and simply put cmseditable areas in all the content areas I want editable and registering these pages in the cms.
It should also be possible to keep my current users and profilemanager if I treat them as totally seperate from the cms users and roles.
But will there be any conflicts/problems with using the default aspnet.mdf database that visual studio creates? I ask because I saw an example where it seemed like Kentico used the same database name.
This leads to next question. Can I import existing users to Kentico when moving an existing site?
I hope the above questions make some sort of sense.
Regards

Re: Moving existing site to Kentico
One little thing I forgot. I see that the 2.0 version will be comming out soon. Is there a more precise release date? I don't want to buy now and in two weeks have to pay again to get the new version.

Re: Moving existing site to Kentico
Version 2.0 is now scheduled for the beginning of October. If you purchase Kentico CMS with subscription, you will get a free upgrade to 2.0.

Our policy is to provide free upgrade to all users who purchase 1.x version within 1 month before the final release of 2.0 version.

Re: Moving existing site to Kentico
Hello,

Thank you for your message. You should be able to re-use your master page without problems.

Kentico CMS uses its own database to store user information. The current version requires that you copy the users from existing database to Kentico CMS database. Version 2.0 will support integration with custom user databases.

Best Regards,
