Discussion forum module?
Hi,

Your CMS seems to offer everything I need to get my site, www.tabletpc.it, from being 'powered' by a number of PHP scripts (a very messy affair) to a single, easy to use, app.

What is missing, though, is a forum module. I would like discussion forum functionality to be fully integrated in the CMS so that users appear in the user list and 1 one registration would be required to participate in the forums, access members only areas and subscribe to newsletters.

Is all this feasible? Can I use a third party forum (like this one?) to achieve the same level of integration as I currently have: www.tabletpc.it/community?

Many thanks and keep up the VERY good work!

Re: Discussion forum module?
Hi Lawrence,

Thank you for your post. Yes, the Forums module is now almost ready and it will be available in Kentico CMS 1.8 that should be released on November 21. It will provide a similar functionality as your existing forum, so you will be able to replace it with our new and migrate the existing posts to the new system.

The forum is not secured by default, but you can place it on a page in a secured area, so the user will need to use the same user name and password as for the "access members only areas".

The newsletter subscriptions are currently not bound to the user accounts, but you can match users to subscribers by user's e-mail. Of course, you can create newsletter subscriptions using the API from your code if you build some custom interface for management of subscriptions.

Should you need more details, please feel free to contact me.

Best Regards,
