Disable/Hide Buttons in Content Menu

Hi,

Perhaps this question has been asked before, but I can't find an answer ...

Is it possible to disable, or better still completely hide buttons on the Content menu that are not part of the specific application? eg, I want to hide the buttons for Workflow (Check Out, History and Publish), Permissions, Relationships and Products.
