Sync failing out of the blue...
My content staging stopped working today and I have no idea why... all I get for the error is:

An error was discovered processing the header

How can I get more information about what is failing? Nothing has been changed about the system since the last time I did a successful sync.

Version: 1.7.2091
Edition: Professional

Re: Sync failing out of the blue...
Hi Chip,

Thank you for your message. Could you please try to open the URL of the synchronization service on the target server in a web browser? (please use the same URL that you used during the target server registration)

You should see a user interface with service parameters. Please let me know if you can see that.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Yes, I can see the definition and such for the live ProcessSyncTask on the staging server.

Re: Sync failing out of the blue...
Hello,

You can find some more information (hopefully useful) by setting the WebServices trace on.

You should set the tracing by editing you web.config file according to http://www.hccp.org/wse-trace-info.html
(just the diagnostics section)

Then you should try to perform the synchronization and see the content of the inputTrace.webinfo and outputTrace.webinfo files to see the detailed information about the errors.

Is the target and the source page on the same machine? Is the WSE version on both websites the same (same version of the Microsoft.Web.Services2.dll)? Do they have the same web.services configuration in you web.config file? Is the issue regarding all the documents or just some of them?

Best Regards

Re: Sync failing out of the blue...
I have the debugging info but don't really know what to make of it. Is it supposed to encode the actual document data? Such as:

<taskData><NewDataSet>
<cms.article>
<NodeID>1607</NodeID>

The target and source are on two different machines, but both run version 2.0.5050.0 of Microsoft.Web.Services2.dll and are configured the same in the web config.

This happens to all documents I try to sync now.

Re: Sync failing out of the blue...
Hello,

Yes, when you synchronize the documents, the document data are part of the service request in an xml form just like you wrote.

So you haven't found any useful information in the inputTrace.webinfo or outputTrace.webinfo files regarding the error you get? Could you please send these files to my e-mail address (martinh@kentico.com) so I could have a closer look at it?

There is one more thing on my mind that could possibly cause the synchronization issues, could you please check the system time settings on both machines? The system time should be synchronized on both machines because WSE is very sensitive to the time settings. When the request comes to the server, the request time shouldn't be in the future according to the current time on the server.

Best Regards

Re: Sync failing out of the blue...
Oddly enough setting the time on them both resolved the issue. Why it started failing all of a sudden is still a mystery to me.

Thanks for the help.
