Some things for user friendly UI (CMSDesk)
Hi,

after some months of practices with CMSDesk, i've think some features/functions can be improved.
I repeat some thing I've posted yesterday in Suggestions area.
Suppose i'm an user and not a developer: I try to think like an user.

1. New button
- A second "New button" wich add a new document of same kind of current document. I thing this speed the work. An example:
-Root
\- Articles
\-Article1
\-Article2
\-Article3
\-Article4 <--- I'm here
\- Products
\- Product 1
\- Product 2
\- Product 3

"Article4" is just created and saved. Clicking to "New Same Document" button, UI moves to "Root\Articles" and add a new "Article" document automatically. Instead, now, i should move manually to "Root\Articles", press "New" button and select Document Template.

2. Grid input (an alternative to first point)
- An alternative to add several documents of same kind is to have second choise for input data. Kentiform is good for normal documents. But if is possible to show same Kentiform controls in several rows (row layout limited by control type of course), this speed data-entry for news, events and other similar data. I think is not too hard to do.

3. File selection
- When i select a file (existing or after uploading), i should press "View" button and "Select file". I think this is not user-friendly. I think "Select file" link must be always visible or, instead, "Views" mode must be the default mode.

4. Files explorer
- a default folder per user (or, best, per role) can be useful.
- an option wich able me to show only Folder document type (or folders wich contains only Files document type) can be useful. My customers dont understand good the concept of content management and if Files Explorer show all site documents they going confused :(
- a filter to show only images if i'm use a image selector (from Kentiform or FKEditor)

5. Treeview
- Show "+" icon only if node contains childs

6. Administration - Roles
- Ability to create a Role wich contains users and/or other Roles
- An "Everyone" Role, to set permissions for all users (only if another permission set for anothe Role/User overrides "lowers" permissions)

7. Kentiform
Others controls wich able me to filter files extension can be selected (for example, to select mediafiles, i can filter by "*.mp3,*.ra,*.mov, etc...") to prevent errated files.

Well, i think is all for now.

Bye,
Andrea

Hi Andrea,

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I understand them very well and I find them very useful. We will try to implement them in the next versions.

Thank you.

Best Regards,
