New and Free at the Marketplace: TweetRepeat & Twitter Feed 2.0

   —
Two web parts for displaying tweets from Twitter timeline
Recently, two web parts for displaying tweets from Twitter public timeline were submitted to the Marketplace. The first one, TweetRepeat, is a completely new web part developed by Control F1 Ltd, a Kentico Gold Partner from United Kingdom. The second one, Twitter Feed 2.0, is a reworked version of Twitter Feed 1.0 by r42 communication, a Kentico Gold Partner from Canada. Although there are several Twitter web parts at the Marketplace, each of them includes some extra features so you can choose the one most suited to your needs.

TweetRepeat

Some features of the TweetRepeat web part are:
  • Custom caching mechanism - the web part allows a user to specify a caching interval for storage of tweets and recover the tweets in cases of Twitter unavailability
  • Possibility to display tweets of one or more Twitter accounts
  • Relative date/time prompts offering more user-friendly output of date/times of tweets, for example 'About 3 hours ago'
  • Works with the 5.5 R2 version of Kentico CMS

Twitter Feed 2.0

The reworked Twitter Feed 2.0 web part has all the functionality of the previous version, with addition of several new features. Some features of the Twitter Feed 2.0 web part are:
  • Possibility to display or hide the profile picture of the Tweeter
  • Option to display a Twitter List (the feed of a group of people), which can be created on the Twitter web site or with most Twitter clients
  • The web part uses a transformation to control the display of the Twitter feed so that all the nodes contained in the Twitter XML feed can be displayed
  • A sample CSS file and a sample transformation are included in the zip package
  • Works with the 5.5 version of Kentico CMS
