Web part properties are different with IE and Chrome

Liya Han asked on November 15, 2018 03:17

I updated some properties for a web part with Chrome, the changes are reflected well on live site with Chrome, however, when I tried to check the changes with IE, the web part still keep the original settings. I don't have multiple web farms and i tried to restart the application, clear cache etc. None of them works, IE still keep old web part properties.

Appreciate your time.

Thanks,

Does it show the old values only in the properties window or also when viewing it rendered data with IE on the live site? And what's the result if you try a IE private window? Or on a different machine?

Hi David, thanks for your time.

It shows the old values both in the properties window and the live site. The result keeps same when my colleagues view with IE (different machine). But Chrome works fine in different machines. It seems that the changes i have done with Chrome couldn't reflect on IE. I just tried Firefox, the web part properties are updated, same with Chrome.

What's the goal of the webpart and what change did you do? Is it a setting or styling thing?

Another thing, it shouldn't matter for the Admin Interface but can you try if disabling browser as a output cache differentiator helps

cache

Hi David, Thanks for your response. It doesn't work by disabling browser as output cache.

The webpart is Tag Cloud, I updated Page list URL property to redirect to current page instead of another page. Sometimes, for some other web parts, the Content Before property is different between Chrome and IE. I need to update another time on Kentico admin interface with IE.

That must be cache somewhere... do you have a development instance you can reproduce this on?

Or do you have something like Cloudflare in front of your site? Is it hosted on Azure, AWS or on premise?

Just to be sure can you check in the event log if the machine name is the same for these requests
