I'm trying to understand why a user I've created is able to create and edit page types when I can see in the Permissions module that they only have permission to Read the page type in question.
The role has UI permission to the Pages app and I want that role to be responsible for creating an editing a specific page type. I thought I could do this in Permissions tab for their role by giving them access to Content module with Create permission and then permission to Create and Modify for the specific page type. But users with this role seem to be able to create and edit all available page types.
Is there something I'm missing here?

You need to disable the create permissions on Content module - this permission allows you to create any content. Then, you need to switch to the page types and allow creation of the page types you want.
