License issues when trying out Kentico example site (DancingGoatMVC)

Erick Valdivieso asked on December 31, 2018 17:31

Hello, I have setup a staging server, where I installed Kentico 12 MVC, and I have generated its corresponding license for localhost and the staging subdomain name.

I only need this staging site to reference the DancingGoatMVC site, while I am develop locally my custom site/theme. The problem is that I cant even navigate and go through the Kentico applications for reference, because I get the following message:

The license limit for feature Ecommerce was exceeded. Please check the event log to get more details.

I understand this is because the default DancingGoatMVC theme already came with a lot of products variants configured, so I want to go ahead and delete this products or disable the allow for sale as instructed from the other message I also see in the dashboard that says the following:

Warning: Your website currently contains 89 enabled products (SKUs), but your website's license has a maximum limit of 10. Alternatively, reduce the number of enabled products or product variants in the Products application. Disable the 'Allow for sale' property of products or delete them entirely.

I cant event delete, or do any of the actions instructed, because I run into the license limitation. Its does not make sense that the license limitation wont allow me to do what is needed as instructed in the message to not run into the license limitation.

What do I do?

Thanks

Hi, thanks for the answer, but that does not necessary resolve the issue. I already have an account under client.kentico.com, which is where I can generated multiple licenses under the free edition license section.

What I dont understand is why Kentico is throwing a message with instructions that can not even be applied in the current state. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

I am ok with the limit of 10 it saying, I just want to know how can I proceed with deleting the products, without getting that other license limit message.

The messages are contracting each other, please advise. Thanks

Well the sample site does include features that might nog be available in the Free version.

Since the whole access to the module is limited by the License you're only option to still use the template is probably to remove the products directly from the Database.

Hi,
The sample web sites are using features from EMS edition to show how it works. If you used the site template with Free edition key, you will get the errors. In this case please send us a message (support@kentico.com) with the domain name you are using and we will send you a temporary key so you can remove the features and object to meet the free edition restrictions.

Thanks for your both solutions, I didnt think in doing it at the database level. First I'll check with support@kentico.com.
