Kentico 8 installer error

Eoin Maguire asked on July 9, 2014 10:51

I've tried multiple times to install using the 8 installer. I'm running it on a Windows 7 machine, installing to a SQL server (2008) on our network.

It creates the files, creates all the DB elements but hangs at 84% every time. Looking at the details in the installer it says 'Importing Roles' twice and is just sitting there.

This is for the BlankSiteASPX template. I've got all the relevant write permissions (files and DB are being written) but it still keeps hanging. I've tried now 4 times with the same result.

Any idea what I can do to fix this?

I can't edit the original question so I'll add that I can login to the new install, it appears so far to be working ok. But there's 16% of the installation that didn't work so I'm concerned it's not all there.

And another 'answer' as editing is impossible. On the 5th attempt the installer completed after 2.5 hours. It said success but has booted me back to the installer screen where you select the type, database, components, samples site etc. I've no idea what's going on.

Could you check your windows event viewer to see if you get any errors there?

This is what's in the event viewer:

The program Kentico_8_0.exe version 8.0.5203.18045 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel. Process ID: 2288

There's nothing in the Action Center control panel.
