Alternative URLs can only be set by administrators

Graham Mott asked on September 16, 2019 12:47

Hello,

I have set up alternative urls and given the roles:

  • desk admin
  • editors the ability to set them.

I have users in one or both of these groups and they cannot set any alternative urls. I have global admin and can set them.

what can I do to allow these role to use this feature.

Hey Graham, are you talking about alternative URL settings in Settings application > URLs & SEO? - https://docs.kentico.com/k12sp/configuring-kentico/managing-sites/configuring-settings-for-sites/settings-urls-and-seo

The Settings application is available to Global admins only.

Hey Matúš, I was talking about that. I thought that it was role specific as I found Manage alternative URLs (MVC) in Roles > Permissions > Module|Content > Manage alternative URLs (MVC).

If this setting is Global Admin only, what does that role setting do?

The role setting allows the users under that role to access Alternative URLs tab under Pages > Properties. You can see more details in this doc https://docs.kentico.com/k12sp/developing-websites/configuring-page-urls-on-mvc-sites/enabling-alternative-urls-for-pages

Sorry I maybe should have been clearer. I was trying to get users to access that Alternative URLs tab. Currently they should be able to do this but cannot.

I followed those instructions before, this is occurring if sign in again. I created a test account and it fails on that as well.

It would be really helpful to inspect this firsthand. For that, can you please open a ticket and grant us temporary Global admin access? Please also let us know for which user we can test it. Either give us the users's credentials or we will impersonate as this user via the UI.

Hey Matúš, Sorry I had missed the UI personalization for the roles.
