There are two parts of the Forums module security model:
1. The security of the Forums module administration interface.
2. The security of the forums published on the web site.
Forums module administration interface
The access to the Forums module administration interface in the CMS Desk -> Tools section can be managed in the permissions matrix for the Forums module in CMS Desk -> Administration -> Permissions:
| • | The Modify permission allows users to modify forum settings. |
| • | The Read permission allows users to only read forum settings. |
The users without any permissions who are moderators of at least one forum are allowed to access the Posts waiting for my approval dialog only.
Security of the forums published on the web site
If you need to limit the read access of the forum, you need to configure the security of the page where the forums are placed.
The users who can post new items to the forums can be specified in the Security tab of the Forum properties dialog:
You can specify that the posts can be added by:

| • | only authenticated users |
| • | only authorized users who are both authenticated and members of some of the selected roles. |
