Bug - Firefox Infinate Loop in CMS desk EN-gb culture
Hi

Did a vanilla Kentico install, created a new site with EN-gb culture. When I go to use CMS desk to edit the content of the site it just loops loading the content tree page.

If I stop the page from loading/disable javascript I can see that there is an error saying page was not created in the default culture.

I can reproduce this error every time.

I have the same problem with a site in en-AU but then in IE7 did you or anyone get the same problem. I am in the middle of upgrading from 3.0 fo 3.1a and can not update the content under IE. Firefox does not seam to have the problem. When I ad the en-US culture to the site the tree loads but all pages ask to be copied to new culture.

Hi,

How did you managed to use en-GB (or en-AU) culture right after installation? By default is set the site culture to en-US. Could you please describe us all modification you have made after installation?

Best Regards,

RE:Bug - Firefox Infinate Loop in CMS desk EN-gb culture
I am having the same issues with v5.5 R2 hotfix 16 on a new test server (windows 2008 64 bit).

The first 2 sites were imports of existing sites from the dev server (windows 7 64 bit) and were fine.

The I create a new site (jntranet) on the test server (clean db schema) which appeared to work fine - can access the site, but it loops when I try to access CMSDESK. You can just see some crosses by the document names in the content tree.

This is in IE 8.

Thought it may be issues with database so changed connection string to dev database - same issue

Copied Dev site files to test so it should be an exact copy - same issue.

Changed browser to chrome - all happy! this looks like a weird OS / browser issue somehow.
On dev PC - windows 7 64 bit
Opera 10.60 - fine
Google Chrome 10.0.648.204 - fine
IE 8.0.7601.17514 - fine
firefox 3.6.10 - fine
safari 5.0 (7533.16) - fine

On test server - Server 2008 64 bit
IE 8.0.7601.17514 - loops
Google Chrome 10.0.648.204 - fine

Any thoughts on this odd behaviour?

RE:Bug - Firefox Infinate Loop in CMS desk EN-gb culture
Hi,

What are the domain name settings set in Kentico CMS and in your IIS?
Are you using any custom web parts with any kind of redirection?
What were the changes before this problem occured?
What is the difference between this and the source installation and settings?
Is it possible to send us the export packages to our support for further investigation?

Best regards,
Juraj Ondrus

RE:Bug - Firefox Infinate Loop in CMS desk EN-gb culture
Hi Juraj,

I am using the domain kenticocms.business-integrations.com (ultimate license) on both the dev PC and test server with a DNS entry in the hosts file mapping to 127.0.0.1. So I am then connecting via remote desktop and using the browser(s) on the local machine.

I have a separate web site and application pool for each web site (all ASP.Net 2.0.50727 application pools and ASP.Net 3.5 Kentico binaries) with just the appropriate host header allowed per site. I am accessing the site via the fully qualified domain name not localhost or machine name (no bindings for them set up anyway).

The problem site is a default 5.5 R2 hotfix 16 installation using the Intranet template - no changes made at all other than the administrator's password!

I can access the site fine and CMSSiteManager but not CMSDesk as it loops with IE 8, but I can with Google Chrome - those are the only two browsers I have on the server.

I can certainly export the site if you want but it is just the standard Intranet template.

The only obvious difference I can see is that the default culture for the Intranet template site is en-US where as the two sites I have created and imported are en-GB.

Regards,
Lucy

RE:Bug - Firefox Infinate Loop in CMS desk EN-gb culture
Hi,

This is weird - we have never encountered this with the intranet portal template before - I installed it already several times and it worked just fine.

The other sites are also within the same CMS installation? Have you made any custom web parts or customization? Something like redirection when the culture is not en-GB?

Also, could you please use e.g. FireBug or Fiddler when loading the CMS Desk so we can see which URLs are requested and to which URL is made the redirection?

Best regards,
Juraj Ondrus
