Emails stuck in queue. Status = waiting, all options grayed out except cancel and refresh. No errors. Is it possible to restart this relay function?

Hello,

Depending on version, this can be caused by different things. Could you please check this therad for example? Also, be sure to confirm that all of the email-related scheduled tasks are set to run at intervals that will ensure timely delivery of email. Are there any error messages in the Event log?

6.0.4377 no errors anywhere. Not sure if an iisrest is in order or a full reboot or what?

Hello,

How long have these messages been in the waiting state? Are you sure your SMTP server is working correctly? Have you tried to check the scheduled tasks as I asked previously?

I can telnet from the kentico server to the exchange server and send email successfully so I know the relay connection is good. Email.QueueSender is set to run every 1 minute and time stamps there show it is running at one minute interval successfully. NO ERRROS anywhere. Any ideas?

Well did an iisrest on the box and things are flowing again. Next question(s) ...

1. Why did this happen?
2. What can I do to prevent it from happening again?
3. What do I have to configure so I'm notified when Kentico hangs like this?

Hello,

1) It is possible that this was caused by the application being restarted by the hosting environment. Are there any error messages in the event log further down in the past?
2) You are also using an outdated version of Kentico so I would recommend to upgrade to the latest version and hotfix.
3) You can create a scheduled task to send you an email notification when the emails hang.

Regarding #3: You of course don't send an email over the email queue in that case.
