Search forum results webpart transformation
Hello!
I use "Forum search results" webpart to implement forum search. And I need to customize its results view - not to show the whole message but the beginning only, enlarge "view thread" anchor, etc. As I understand, I need to create a transformation for the webpart, but I can't. I follow the instructions listed on this page:

http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/index.html?writing_transformations.htm

but when try to apply them to "Forum search results" except of "Datalist", but when I pass to those words:

• Document types: custom.computer; you can choose the document type from a list by clicking the Select button.
• Transformation: custom.computer.preview; to easily choose from a list of available transformations, click Select, choose the Computer document type in the dialog and then click on the required transformation.

I find that there are not such fields in "Forum Search Results" settings. What can I do? May be there is no need of using transformations at all in my case?

RE:Search forum results webpart transformation
Hi,

Thread was moved to 6.0 forum, it actually doesn't influence the answer.

The Forum search results web part doesn't use transformations to format and render the results of the forum search. Instead, it uses Forum layouts.
They are described in the Publishing forums on the website article, and more detail look can be found at Customizing forum design article.

This means that you can create a custom layout, where you would apply the desired appearance in the ascx/cs code.

Hope this will help.

Regards
Zdenek
