Hi,
in the web part configuration in the field for alternate text, you can use localization macro - http://www.kentico.com/docs/devguide/appendix_a___macro_expressions.htm

You can create translation for every language you are using - http://www.kentico.com/docs/devguide/multilingual_expressions.htm

What about the case where the EditableImage alternate text is not the same? For example, the user puts an image of a "house" on one page, and on another page with the same templates, uses an image of a "dog". I think the EditableImage should allow editable AlternateText in addition to the actually image.

Hi Mufasa,

In this case you can simply clone template as ad-hoc in properties tab using Clone as ad-hoc template link and then you can edit template without affecting original one.

RE:Alternate Text of Picture and Multilingual
Well, the point is that, first of all, I don't want to have that extra, in my opinion unnecessary, step of creating the ad-hoc. And more importantly, then any changes to the original template don't get propagated to the ad-hoc copies. I don't think it is unreasonable for the ALT tag to change, since the image is changing--it just makes sense to include that in the editable properties for an editable image, IMO.

RE:Alternate Text of Picture and Multilingual
Oh yeah, and the point of the EditableImage is for the non-technical user of the site (our client) to edit the images. They don't want to or know how to use the design view to change ALT tags.
