Kentico and .net 3.5
I am using Visual Studio 2008 and when I open the web project it asks me if I want to upgrade the project. I have not been upgrading to the 3.5 framework but when I try to build the project I get many build errors related to the framework version. What is the best practice for using VS 2008 to develop Kentico templates?

RE:Kentico and .net 3.5
After I read the FAQ's I got the idea that I must rebuild the solution with the new framework in order to have 3.5 support, is that correct? Is there an existing build on 3.5 as I don't have the source code license?

RE:Kentico and .net 3.5
Hi,

Could you please confirm that you have installed Kentico CMS for Visual Studio 2008 and .Net 3.5? It is the first step of the web installer.

Here you can find more information about how to prepare the DLLs with AJAX toolkit - http://devnet.kentico.com/Knowledge-Base/AJAX/How-to-prepare--NET-3-5-(AJAX-3-5-0-0)-package-for.aspx

You do not need to source code license, you only need to install Kentico CMS for VS 2008. Or, if you have already installed Kentico CMS, you need to convert the web project. You can try to search on the Internet. E.g.:

RE:Kentico and .net 3.5
I tried installed the .net 3.5/Visual Studio 2008 version, however the installation fails everytime I do, and reverts to 2.0 installation. I will try another installation if you can provide me with more detail on what the dependencies are for it to succeed.

RE:Kentico and .net 3.5
Hi again,

I am sorry but I am confused now. Have you installed the .Net 3.5 on your computer? What are the steps when installing Kentico CMS using the Web Installer? I tried to install the CMS for VS 2008 and .Net 3.5 and it is working fine.

RE:Kentico and .net 3.5
Yes I have Visual Studio 2008 and .net Framework V 3.5 SP1 installed. When I run the web installer, I select the VS 2008/.net 3.5 selection. On the next screen I select to use my locall IIS server. Then next screen asks for installation path which I provide. The Installer runs then throughs an Error about not being able to configure IIS with the 3.5 framework and that it will use the 2.0 Version instead. The installer then completes.

I wonder if its that I am using my local IIS instead of the Built-in web server? I will try that as well but please confirm that my steps are valid ...

Hi,
What is your operating system? If it is Windows Vista, could you please make sure that you are running the installer as Administrator or turn off the UAC?

In the IIS the .Net 3.5 should be used automatically. Could you please send us some screen shots?

RE:Kentico and .net 3.5
was this ever resolved? I'm receiving the same error trying to install the VS2008+.NET 3.5 version through the web installer.

RE:Kentico and .net 3.5
Not really, support just sent me the precompiled dll's and had me modify the web config. I am still waiting for an answer as to when an out-of-the-box 3.5 compatible version will be available.

Hi,

The next version (3.2) will be compatible with the Ajax Toolkit 3.5.

RE:Kentico and .net 3.5
Hi,

Unfortunately we have never encountered this issue before. Could you please check and/or re-install the .Net Framework 3.5 on your computer?
