Two Sites Become One
I have two sites that are running on separate instances of source and database in Kentico. W are moving them from 6.0 to 7.0. Down the road, we may merge these two sites together so the thought was we should have them run on the same source and database instance to make it easier. If down the road they do merge these sites, what would be the way to move content from one site over to the other (if the one site is going away?). Import Toolkit? Import Export functionality? Something else?

RE:Two Sites Become One
If you are talking about bring sites on separate Kentico installations under one Kentico installation, then you could use the "Export object" feature on one site and "Import site or objects" feature on the other. This should bring both your sites under one Kentico installation.

Recently I attended a Kentico webinar on Upgrading Kentico which has some useful tips on the upgrade process itself, thought it might be useful for you since you are upgrading these sites from v6.0 to v7.0:

Yea I watched that video yesterday. Good content especially for prepping. Originally the plan was to do what you are talking about but now they want to take documents and move them over to our main site from the other site. So I am guessing the import toolkit and a lot of massaging of templates, transformations, and layouts will need to happen. :(

Hello.

It may depend on what data exactly you want to move. For certain objects or the whole site you can use Export / Import module, for documents or other data you can use Staging module and of course you can use Import toolkit as well.

RE:Two Sites Become One
Yea it's documents. I was originally doing the import site feature when I thought they wanted one source and database for two sites but that is changing as of today and now they want to merge content from one site into another and abandon the other site. Months of work gone it seems. Oh well.

Thanks!
