Webfarm errors in Azure
Hi there,

We are currently experimenting with Kentico on Azure. We are using 2 instances for the webrole and 1 for the worker role.

However, the webfarm tasks are throwing exceptions. They state that the current license does not support a webfarm. We are using a kentico ultimate license.

We have encountered this situation before in an on premise situation. In that case we had to had server licences for the IP addresses of both servers. This is not possible on Azure because the internal IP addresses are dynamic.

It this a bug, or are we missing something?

We have applies hotfix 6.012

Thanks in advance.

Jonne

RE:Webfarm errors in Azure
Hi,

This information is missing in the deployment guide but it will be added soon.

If you will check the Site Manager -> Administration -> Web farms, the web farm servers should be created automatically. You need to generate and add license keys for their domain names to the CMS.

Both servers try to reach each other using their IP address, these are dynamic. So we would have to generate a license every time.

The webservers don't have a individual domain name?

Hi,

They should have a domain name - other customer ran into the same issue and the instances/servers were running also under a domain names. So, adding keys for those solved the issue.

What do you mean with a domain name? The computer names are also variable?

RE:Webfarm errors in Azure
Hi,

Domain name is the name under which is the server accessible. In Windows Azure, there are also domain names - they are changing only when deleting the instance and creating new. So, you should use update instead and the name remains the same = you can use license key for this domain name.
