Kentico CMS Posters for developers

   —
If you want to have the summarized information about Kentico CMS on the wall in your office, this post is just for you.
Hi there,

When we have some spare time (which is not very often :-) ), we are trying to identify the small things we can do to improve your knowledge and increase your productivity with Kentico CMS.

For that reason, we prepared some posters that you can print. Some of you already got some of them during our events. They summarize the most important aspects that every Kentico CMS developer should know.

The list of posters is not final, as we go, we are preparing even more of them, we have about 10-15 other topics that we would like to cover in the future.

They are pretty much named with version 5.5 but they of course also apply to 5.5 R2 and will also apply to 6.0, since we are always trying to make things backwards compatible.

Macro reference poster

Macros-overview.pdf

This poster will give you the full perspective over what options are available in macros and which data you can query. It should  mainly help you to notice that some thing you need is available out-of-the-box with macros, and you don't need to implement it via custom code.

API reference poster

API-rerefence.pdf

This poster contains the summary of all important API classes that you should know about and how the Kentico CMS API is structured. If you need to check which classes belong to particular functionality to see if there are some helper methods that can be useful for you, use this poster.

API examples poster

Another API poster is little different. While the first one is focused on the structure of the API and available classes, this one is specifically targeted to management of objects through API and some key aspects of it. Whenever you need to write some custom code that works with Kentico CMS data, see what are the best practices to do that on this poster.

Transformations poster

Transformations.pdf

The last poster in this set is important for the designers of the web site. Displaying content is key aspect of each web site, and transformations do help you with that. This poster summarizes how the transformations work, and what methods are available to make your code simpler.

All posters are also available for download in the Documentation section.

I hope all these will make your life easier and definitely let me know which other posters you consider important so we can prioritize them to deliver them sooner.

We don't have any newer posters currently. If you feel we should spend some resources on preparing them rather than improving pro product itself, please submit that request at http://ideas.kentico.com

Thanks!

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your suggestion. We plan about 10 others but this seems interesting so we will include it into the priotitized ones. I just need to think about it and have some idea how to approach to this.

Thank you for these. In fact, I would like to make a suggestion for a poster topic if you haven't already thought of it. We are working in a development team and ensuring that everyone in the office is equally knowledgible in Kentico is a difficulty. A nice an thorough introduction to ASPX templates / how the CMS works would be very useful to us.
