Upgrade package from 4.1 to 5.0 released

   —
The upgrade package was finally released, let's see how you can get it.
Hi there,

I am happy to announce that the upgrade package from Kentico CMS 4.1 to 5.0 passed the final tests and was released.

It works the usual way, you run the SQL script on your database, update the project files, and it is done.

You can download it here: KenticoCMS_4_1_to_5_0.zip (46 MB)

Please note that if you are upgrading from an older versions, you need to apply the previous versions upgrades first, you can get all of them right here: All upgrade downloads

IMPORTANT: You should always backup your project and database before upgrading in case something goes wrong.

Here are top 5 reasons why I would recommend you to upgrade
  • Get new features
  • Get better look and feel of the UI
  • Get better performance
  • More fixed bugs
  • Be able to get the latest hotfixes

So go ahead. In case of any trouble while upgrading, contact us as always at support@kentico.com

To Spaso: all sponsored .Net User Groups are offered a free upgrade to 5.0. Please, can you let us know at partners@kentico.com?

Does this upgrade include free CMS for .NET user Group and if does how to do it?

Hi. That is a very good question. Hotfix 5.0.3 is build 5.0.3670 while upgrade files come from build 5.0.3671 (one day after), so the upgrade should be functionally equal to hotfix 5.0.3

Does the upgrade include the 5.0 hotfixes, i.e. 5.0.3?

Thanks.

No, just start with whatever hotfix of 4.1 you have and apply upgrade to 5.0 directly. It includes all the fixes. You only need to upgrade over standard versions with upgrades listed on the all upgrades page.

Do we have to apply all the hotfixes for 4.1 first ? Or does the 4.1 -> 5.0 update include them all ?
